Post and Host
Any user can host an event and publish it to the site. The event is then pushed to all applicable users based on any event restrictions or user filters. Guests can then RSVP to the event and reserve a spot. The host will approve guests to join. Once approved, guests will have access to the private event page and final details can be shared by the host. Discussion between host and guests can be done on the platform or over group text.
Fly-Ins and Public Events
Events open to the general public will be posted. These include fly-ins, STOL competitions, and other aviation related events. These events typically will not have a discussion page but users can mark their planned attendance if desired.
Example
I want to practice for an upcoming STOL competition but it’s hard for me to measure my takeoff and landing distances when I’m the one flying. I start an event for STOL Practice under the STOL category so that anyone interested in this type of flying gets a notification. The field I want to use is 2000ft grass but isn’t in the best condition and there is a tricky approach. It’s a small field so I limit the event to two other planes. I also set a requirement for significant experience in short field, rough terrain because I don’t want an inexperienced pilot flying into this field alone for the first time. I post the event and send the invites. Four guests respond that they would like to attend. I approve two of them and then we chat in the private event page, set up rules, convoy to the field, set frequencies in use, and any other appliable details, then meet up and fly!
